Your East End Vets Team

A second-generation veterinarian, Dr. Matt spent the better part of his life working in the veterinary field with all different types of animals, but his dream was always to open a small animal practice in a community that he loved.

After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2008 with Dr. Lara, Dr. Matt went on to work in several busy small animal practices, forming strong bonds with his patients and their families. Matt also spent several years working for a pet health nutrition company as well as the Medical Director for a veterinary telemedicine platform. Dr. Matt takes learnings from all of his diverse experience to work closely with pet parents to help their pets live their best lives through access to proper veterinary care, preventative medicine and individualized treatment plans using a team-based approach.

Dr. Matt hopes that EEV will be a pillar of the Beaches community through empowering our staff, providing compassionate care and helping to train the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Dr. Matt Spiegle

Raised with an innate love for nature and animals, Dr Lara had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. As a child and teenager, when she wasn’t playing soccer, Dr. Lara spent her summers pet sitting and working at veterinary clinics soaking up as much experience as she could before starting vet school at the Ontario Veterinary College (Fun fact: Dr Lara and Dr Matt were classmates in vet school)!

In the 16 years after graduating vet school, Dr. Lara lived and worked in New Zealand, practised in Southern Ontario, found her passion in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) soft tissue surgery and became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. Dr. Lara loves mentoring, building life long relationships with clients and their pets and providing compassionate care.

Kerry was born and raised in East Toronto, and is now raising her own family just east of here in Cliffside. Kerry had a lifelong dream to become a veterinarian and started working in veterinary hospitals when she was 15.

She’s lucky to have an uncle who is a veterinarian and has been her mentor since day one - she’s worked alongside him in several of his practices prior to her own veterinary schooling, including a mobile veterinary service he ran by boat in the islands of Casco Bay in Portland, Maine.

She completed her BSc at the University of Guelph in 2006 and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. Her professional interests include internal medicine, preventive medicine, pain management and anesthesia.

Outside of the clinic, Kerry enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons, music (you might catch her singing in her family band around the east end!), movies and travel.

Her menagerie of pets currently includes 2 clinic-related rescues: a potcake named Matilda and a 3-legged cat named Hobbes.

Dr. Alice decided that she wanted to be a veterinarian at the age of seven and never wavered from that plan. Since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College, she has provided care to dogs and cats in multiple small animal clinics across Toronto as well as virtually via telemedicine.

Her favourite part of the job is educating pet parents and working collaboratively with them to provide the best possible care for their pets.

Dr. Alice enjoys soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and chatting about nutrition and preventative care!

Jessica's love for animals is the backbone to her 20 years of experience in the veterinary industry. As a young Registered Technician she gained a deep understanding of the clinical aspects of animal patient care. This solid foundation paved the way for her transition into pharmaceutical sales, marketing, and management, providing her with a unique perspective on the complexities of veterinary operations.

Jessica joins East End Vets to support the community, which she proudly calls home. She is very excited to make a positive impact on the lives of animals and their families, working alongside a wonderful dedicated team.

She cannot wait to meet all of our clients (two and four legged) here at East End Vets!

Claire

Hi, I’m Hunter, and I am the senior CSR at East End Vets. I’ve been working in veterinary medicine for six years and have found my home here. My passion for animal care drives everything I do, and I’m dedicated to providing the best support for both pets and their owners.

In my role at East End Vets I wear many hats which allows me to engage with a variety of cases and help our clients feel at ease during their visits to the clinic.

At home, I’m a proud pet parent to three wonderful pets: Pickle, my spirited Jack Russell Terrier, and my two rescue cats, Lemmy Kilmister and Kirby. They bring so much joy to my life and remind me daily of why I love working in this field. When I’m not at the clinic, you can find me playing video games or gardening. I’m excited to continue my journey in this rewarding profession!

Tyler

Tyler graduated from Seneca College’s Veterinary Technician Program in 2017. He has worked at several Toronto animal non-profits in both wildlife and shelter settings. He has also volunteered with local spay/neuter programs, helped manage some of Toronto’s feral cat colonies, and fostered many, many cats. During his time at the shelter, Tyler developed a strong interest in working with cats with complicated medical and behavioral needs.

In his personal life, Tyler enjoys cooking, gardening, playing music, and catering to the every whim of his approximately three cats.

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Samantha graduated with honours from Seneca Polytechnic in 2025 and shortly after completed her VTNE to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (go Sam). While she’s gained experience caring for exotic and large animals over the years, her heart has always belonged to small animal medicine and we’re very lucky for that.

Having spent much of her life in the East York community, Sam is thrilled to be “back home” caring for the pets (and people) of the neighbourhood she knows and loves.

She’s a lifelong softy who connects instantly with her patients, treating each one like family and making sure they feel safe, supported, and well cared for… often with an extra cuddle when they need it most

If you see Sam around the clinic, be sure to say hi! We’re so grateful to have her as part of our growing EEV family.

RECEPTION

Mel has been in the veterinary field for over 11 years. She started her career at the local humane society before transitioning into general practice, eventually spending seven years in emergency veterinary medicine.

Now, she’s returning to rDVM life in search of a more consistent lifestyle

because, in her words, she’s “33 going on 95” and firmly believes bedtime should be no later than 10pm.

When she’s not at the clinic, you can find Mel reading, playing video games, hanging out with her cats, hiking with friends when the weather cooperates, or catching live music whenever she can.

We’re so happy to have her!
