A second-generation veterinarian, Dr. Matt spent the better part of his life working in the veterinary field with all different types of animals, but his dream was always to open a small animal practice in a community that he loved.
After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2008 with Dr. Lara, Dr. Matt went on to work in several busy small animal practices, forming strong bonds with his patients and their families. Matt also spent several years working for a pet health nutrition company as well as the Medical Director for a veterinary telemedicine platform. Dr. Matt takes learnings from all of his diverse experience to work closely with pet parents to help their pets live their best lives through access to proper veterinary care, preventative medicine and individualized treatment plans using a team-based approach.
Dr. Matt hopes that EEV will be a pillar of the Beaches community through empowering our staff, providing compassionate care and helping to train the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Dr. Lara Zahra
Dr. Matt Spiegle
Raised with an innate love for nature and animals, Dr Lara had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. As a child and teenager, when she wasn’t playing soccer, Dr. Lara spent her summers pet sitting and working at veterinary clinics soaking up as much experience as she could before starting vet school at the Ontario Veterinary College (Fun fact: Dr Lara and Dr Matt were classmates in vet school)!
In the 16 years after graduating vet school, Dr. Lara lived and worked in New Zealand, practised in Southern Ontario, found her passion in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) soft tissue surgery and became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. Dr. Lara loves mentoring, building life long relationships with clients and their pets and providing compassionate care.

She cannot wait to meet all of our clients (two and four legged) here at East End Vets!
Hi, I’m Hunter, and I am the senior CSR at East End Vets. I’ve been working in veterinary medicine for six years and have found my home here. My passion for animal care drives everything I do, and I’m dedicated to providing the best support for both pets and their owners.
In my role at East End Vets I wear many hats which allows me to engage with a variety of cases and help our clients feel at ease during their visits to the clinic.
At home, I’m a proud pet parent to three wonderful pets: Pickle, my spirited Jack Russell Terrier, and my two rescue cats, Lemmy Kilmister and Kirby. They bring so much joy to my life and remind me daily of why I love working in this field. When I’m not at the clinic, you can find me playing video games or gardening. I’m excited to continue my journey in this rewarding profession!
